Time Travelers say bye-bye
"The Grandfather Paradox [where you go back in time and kill your grandfather] is not an issue," said Mallett. "In a sense, time travel means that you're traveling both in time and into other universes. If you go back into the past, you'll go into another universe. As soon as you arrive at the past, you're making a choice and thereÂll be a split. Our universe will not be affected by what you do in your visit to the past."
So, basically, traveling back in time means you vanish from our universe.
No way to return (so it seems).
I suppose that might be OK for the traveler (whatever universe they end up in might be close enough to home that they don't care), but really, everyone else is saying goodbye to them.
Thats sort of...sad.

So that means that if you can't go back, and have sex with your grandmother - like Fry did on Futurama?
Damn! If the alien brains things ever invade us, we are doomed!
nono! Its still OK!
1) Alien Brain Things invade.
2) we ALL travel back in time say, 8 minutes.
3) The traveling back in time automatically creates a parallel universe in which we then live.
Basically, they show up and we move.
Interestingly, the article doesn't mention anything about how you'd end up with multiple copies of yourself running around.
